Square Solutions provides communication solution

21 November 2002 -- Richard Robinson, Square Solution's MD today announced the installation of its TecAlert II control system in the new shopping centre built on the site of the Duke of York's Barracks in London's Kings Road.

This is the first example of using Voice over IP (VOIP) telephony to link shops and catering units to the guards' control room. Voice is sent using data packets over the standard data wiring and optical fibres routing through switches and hubs, avoiding the need for separate wiring and PABX technology. By locating the VOIP units in multiple locations across the large site, the system is inherently fault tolerant.

Shops can raise alarms using their telephones and these are managed to conclusion through the system. Guards can send a variety of instructions to units to cope with various emergency situations. All information is logged within a database for audit and reporting purposes. The system also doubles as a PABX as shops can contact others on the site using the telephones.
