Communications Option

The TecAlert system provides a graphical management environment for handling alarms and triggering actions including evacuation. It relies on a communications system linking the units to the central control point. A number of different approaches have been implemented:

PABX

A phone system can be installed linking the units to the central control point. The TecAlert system interfaces with the PABX using industry standard interfaces such as E1 30 channel, T1 24 channel or IDSN 2 channel. A variety of protocols can be supported and we recommend EuroISDN or QSIG. Others can be implemented subject to interworking tests. We have successfully integrated with PABXs from Nortel, Seimens, Samsung, Telrad.

Telephones can be analog or digital. If the phones system support "hotline" calling, the shop unit staff simply lift the handset to signal an alarm. If the phones support "Paging" calls and "hands free" operation, warnings can be issued on phone speakers.

Maintenance of the PABX will be undertaken by the installer while Square Solutions will maintain the TecAlert system and manage the overall installation.

VOIP network

VOIP allows the interconnection of the units and the security control over a standard data network. Cabling will have to be Cat5 or above and data switches may be required at strategic node points on the campus. We can supply waterproof enclosures for this if internal space is not available.

Telephones connect to the network data sockets in the shops and similar phones are used in security.

The telephones can operate H323 or SIP protocols. TecAlert includes the VOIP PABX and gatekeeper.

Square Solutions will maintain the entire system although the client can replace faulty phones without our attendance on site.

VOIP PABX

If required, an Asterisk based PABX can be used to drive the VOIP network. This will enable the phone system to be used beyond the security application say for the site administration staff or to provide phone service to the shop units.

Public Network Based

It is sometimes not possible to provide dedicated cabling to shop units for the telephone. In this case, it is possible to implement the entire TecAlert system using telephone switching in the Public Telephone network. Shop units can nominate their own fixed telephone numbers or the manager's mobile phone numbers as their contact point. TecAlert will call these numbers to signal alarm. The connection from TecAlert to the phone network is VOIP and the costs of network services is very low indeed. The guards will see exactly the same type of display and with a directly connected system
